IBVM Canada is a Catholic community of religious sisters known world-wide as the Loretto/Loreto Sisters (the Canadian Region of the Institute of the Blessed Virgin Mary).

The Mary Ward Centre for Education, Spirituality and Justice is a Ministry of the Loretto Sisters (IBVM Canada). We seek to promote peace, justice and the integrity of creation through social analysis, theological/spiritual reflection, education, action, and advocacy.

We aim to encourage agents of change through a process of mutual accompaniment – walking with those on the margins and creating spaces for mutual transformation. We encounter the realities of the world through the lens of Catholic Social Teaching, inspired by the Ignatian tradition and Mary Ward’s principles of freedom, justice, and sincerity. We facilitate experiences, celebrations, workshops and events that nourish individuals and groups and inspire them to move out into action.

By examining and responding to many of the injustices prevalent in our world, we hope to accompany and encourage others to work with us to create a world of right relationship. We work collaboratively with other religious organizations, educational institutions, faith-based justice groups, and civil society to improve the lives of all of God’s creation.
