The aim of PRE-EMPT (PRE-eclampsia & Eclampsia Monitoring, Prevention & Treatment) is to develop, test and introduce new knowledge that will reduce the unacceptable maternal, perinatal, family, societal, and global impacts of pre-eclampsia, and the other hypertensive disorders of pregnancy. The University of British Columbia and King’s College London with funding from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation leads the PRE-EMPT (initiative (PI: Peter von Dadelszen).
Co-ordinated from Vancouver, Canada, members of the project include diverse content, methodological, and advocacy experts from low, middle and high income countries who participate in implementation as well as in the Steering Committee – an unprecedented coalition of expertise for improving maternal health worldwide.
