Through interventions by young film professionals mentoring both youth and seniors, in this project, youth will be able to elicit the stories of the elderly and create broadcast-quality digital histories of elders’ lives, each 7 minutes long. Youth will also be encouraged to react to the expressed needs of the seniors, concerned about their autonomy, and act entrepreneurially to satisfy those needs. Youth and seniors will engage with each other, and form extended relationships with each other.
This is a first concrete step towards creating an online Virtual TV Studio for Youth and Community, which will provide mentorship and collaboration online, with resources necessary to enable a youth to be the best communicator she or he can be, for academic, artistic, and entrepreneurial purposes.
