Transportation, both public and private, plays an increasingly important role in the sustainability of our urban environments. With high rates of urbanization and sprawling metropolises, our modal choices have significant environmental, social, and economic impacts. This second CSIN webinar examines how we can promote sustainable transportation by encouraging sustainable commuting patterns and explores how new methods are being used to identify opportunities for more efficient and convenient public transit systems.
Jennifer McGowan (Project Lead, Smart Commute – City of Toronto) will share her experience and insights with Smart Commute and how they are promoting sustainable transportation by encouraging employees to reevaluate their commuting patterns.
Kyle Wiebe from IISD’s SDG Knowledge Team will discuss new techniques to evaluating public transit systems and explore how these methods can lead to a fuller understanding of public transit ridership and encourage targeted public transit policies.
