Together 2018: Winnipeg

The Manitoba Council for International Cooperation invites you to join Together 2018 Winnipeg, a satellite event of the Together 2018 Symposium taking place in Edmonton, Alberta on November 5-6.

This free, drop-in event features a national livestream of keynote speaker, Paul Polman, CEO of Unilever, in addition to presentations from Together 2018 speakers, followed by discussions with local sustainable development actors.

What’s Together 2018 all about?

The Sustainable Development Goals: In September 2015, world leaders agreed on a transformative, global agenda for sustainable development at the United Nations. The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and its 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) commits countries to a universal, rights-based agenda that integrates economic, social and environmental dimensions of sustainable development and aims to benefit all people everywhere with a particular focus on the most vulnerable.

Canada signed onto the 2030 Agenda in 2015, recognizing the importance of the agenda for progress on sustainable development in Canada.

Together 2018 will enable attendees to develop their roles as leaders in the implementation, monitoring and evaluation of the SDGs both within Canada and abroad through opportunities to:

• Learn about current work by all levels of government, civil society, and the private sector, leveraging regional and global knowledge to strengthen relationships and present new possibilities for increased collective impact;
• Share good practices and lessons learned between organizations, institutions, communities and individuals, including methods and tools for effective research and policy work;
• Create new partnerships and forward-thinking solutions for the achievement of the SDGs, looking at possibilities and opportunities both locally and globally;
• Measure progress on the SDGs and report that progress on a periodic basis;
• Advance together using the knowledge, skills, tools and networks gained in your communities and organizations.
