When we look at the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) that Canada and others committed to achieving by 2030, there is not a single goal that does not involve volunteers. Volunteers contribute to eliminating poverty, advocating for human rights, protecting the planet, and creating thriving and resilient communities. In 2017, Volunteer Canada began to collaborate with Employment and Social Development Canada to explore the link between volunteer activities of Canadians and the SDG’s. This webinar will provide an overview of our early findings and support organizations and those who engage volunteers in examining the relevance to their missions.

The learning objectives for this webinar include:

  • gaining insight into the relevance of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) within the Canadian context
  • increasing awareness of how volunteers are contributing to these goals
  • exploring the concept of promoting volunteering within the framework of the SDGs
