St.Mark’s Anglican Church – Halifax

The first St. Mark’s opened in 1866, enlarged 3 times it was destroyed in the Halifax Explosion along with 3 other north end churches. 3 churches were rebuilt. St. Joseph’s Catholic Church closed in 2006. United Memorial Church which combined the congregations of Grove Street Presbyterian and Kaye Street Methodist closed in 2015. St. Mark’s as the last extant congregation is hosting an Explosion Remembrance Memorial Service on Sunday, Nov. 5th at 2:00 p.m. and an Explosion Anniversary Concert on Wednesday, Dec. 6th at 7:00 p.m.
