Royal Canadian Legion Branch # 75 Ladies Auxiliary

The Royal Canadian Legion Branch # 75 Ladies Auxiliary has been an active community supporter in the new municipality of Riverdale, Manitoba. We are located in what was/is the Town of Rivers in the previous municipality of Daly. When the auxiliary which has existed for 71 years, moved into this building with the branch, the current canteen was the kitchen. This small area provided many meals, lunches and snacks over the years until sufficient funds were raised to equip and establish our current kitchen. At that time, the canteen evolved. It serves many purposes when the kitchen is not required. On Bingo nights , volunteers from the auxiliary ‘man it’ and the monies raised are distributed through the year to various groups, organizations and youth. It is used by community groups and the branch for fund raisers. Over the years very little was done to upgrade this area and it was starting to show it’s age. With the monies received from Canada 150 and the Rivers & Area Community Foundation and volunteer time for the installation, we have put in new cupboards and counters. A new double sink and the back splash were donated. Estimates are being worked on over the summer to do more improvements in the fall. The auxiliary is extremely thankful for the support from both these agencies.
