The Sisters of St. Martha, Antigonish have a long history of involvement in social and ecological justice. The Marthas were foundational contributors to the work of the Antigonish Movement, playing a key role in the people-centered movement for just and collectively directed livelihoods in rural Nova Scotia. Further, in their lifetime, many Marthas have journeyed alongside people, contributing significantly to work centered in the development and dignity of persons through their long careers in healthcare, education and social work in both Western and Eastern Canada.
