The Ingersoll Choral Society, established in 1991, exists to perform sacred and secular choral music, to educate and promote public appreciation of the musical arts by providing public choral music performances, and to provide a community service by performing public concerts and offering musical services for charitable activities in the community.
ICS provides our members with an opportunity to sing, develop singing skills and perform in public. The community benefits through the opportunity to attend reasonably priced cultural performances. We provide an annual Good Friday concert, with live orchestra and no admission fee, which is unique to our community. We make nursing home visits a part of our annual schedule.
For the past five years we have performed a Benefit Concert in the spring to raise funds for local charities and to date, have raised over $10,000 for five organizations that serve the residents of Oxford County. For the past three years, we have also had a Youth Choir for children ages 8 to 16. The youth perform one concert with the adult choir as well as performing two concerts on their own each year.
