The founding of Future Earth in Montreal was a collaboration between Montréal International, the Fonds de recherche du Québec and Montreal’s academic institutions (Concordia University, McGill University, Université de Montréal, UQAM, INRS, ÉTS, Polytechnique), and the Ouranos climate research consortium. We’re a network of Canadian researchers and innovators, collaborating across disciplines and sectors, to connect local projects to Future Earth’s global sustainability initiatives.

We harness the experience and reach of thousands of scientists and innovators from across the globe[1] to facilitate research, mobilise networks, spark innovation, and turn knowledge into action. With Sustainability in the digital age, we convene expertise that doesn’t normally interact. We connect the interface of digital innovation, sustainability science and equity and promote cross-scale collaboration. At Sustainability in the Digital Age, we leverage the power of artificial intelligence/machine learning to drive transformative system changes for a climate-safe, sustainable, and equitable world. This aligns perfectly with the need to grow the needed data, infrastructure, rapid analytics, and real-time insights to move towards nature positive economies worldwide that leverage natural, social and human capital. Our work leverages the opportunities of this intersection to drive the transformative systems changes needed to build a sustainable, climate-safe, and equitable world. Future Earth and Sustainability in the Digital Age are represented here today because we believe that research, innovation, and collaboration can transform the world toward sustainability[3].
