Located in Cambridge, Ontario, the Fashion History Museum (FHM) is a vibrant, high caliber institution of international importance, for the study and display of historic fashion. It achieves this through its’ activities of exhibition, collection and preservation, research and educational programs. With a collection of over 12,000 authentic garments and accessories spanning solidly from the 1700s to the present the FHM is able to put into context social, technological, scientific, economic and artistic development or advancements to understand the world we live in and our heritage. A library archives has 2,000 books plus thousands of original documents, designs, catalogues and other materials providing an opportunity for original research. Each year the FHM acquires additions to its’ ‘History in the Making: Contemporary Canadian Design Collection’ with topical pieces of importance for the year to build an archive of Canadian content, reflecting both the nation’s fashion industry and Canadian experience.
