WorldViews Consulting is the name of my personal consultancy related to furthering the goal of building a ‘culture of sustainability’. I have worked in the cultural sector for almost 40 years. My work involved public education, experimental exhibit development, audience research (related to the experiences people have when interacting with artworks), as well as working to help the museum field better understand and imagine the untapped potential of museums to contribute to meaningful cultural change.

In 1999 I was invited to join Leadership for Environment and Development (a global, cross-disciplinary network created by the Rockefeller Foundation to further the goals and vision of the Brundtland Report and Agenda 21). Since then I have been researching, publishing and speaking about the need for sector and system changes in all areas of society, including museums, in order to craft a vision of the future that humanity embraces, while addressing the growing global problems (e.g. equity and climate change).

WorldViews has been my vehicle for that for the past decade. I continue to work with museums when the opportunity presents, however, I have ventured into others areas – especially related to ideas for reinventing  economic systems, as well as fostering “future-fit” businesses, in which the generation of a balanced blend of social, environmental and economic value.

As an associate of the AtKisson Group, which has provided sustainability leadership around the world for over two and a half decades, I have acquired a number of sustainability planning tools, as well as a grounding in the SDGs.  Through is work with the UN and many other organizations, Alan AtKisson has been an active player in the development and spreading of the SDGs).
