It is located in the Commissariat Building on the Rideau Canal, a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2007. Its mandate is the history of Ottawa and has 10,000 artefacts. 3000 records are digitized and uploaded on an online database for public access. It is celebrating its amazing accomplishment of serving the community for 100 years, with a special exhibition, BYTOWN MUSEUM: A Century of Community and special programming throughout the year. In particular is the week long, free programming , July 2-8, 2017 (Love Thou Thy Land, the WCHSO’s motto, is the name of the program week).
