Toronto and York Region Métis Council

The Toronto and York Region Métis Council is a chartered Council of the Métis Nation of Ontario. It is the democratic representative of the citizens of the MNO who reside in Toronto and York Region. The core vision of the Council is to provide positive representation of Métis citizens, to share knowledge of Métis history and tradition through cultural and educational events, and to build reciprocal relationships in the spirit of reconciliation. A primary function of the Council is the facilitation of culturally-based initiatives and opportunities for those that reside in the Toronto-York area. It is the aim of the Council to build relationships with individuals and organizations in the community, both Indigenous and non-Indigenous, to foster healthy connections between Métis peoples and their allies, and to continue to distinguish the Métis as a unique Indigenous People by sharing the historical narrative of the Métis Nation in Canada.
