The Adoption Council of Canada (ACC) is the voice for adoption in Canada. We are the
only national non-profit organization devoted to serving birth parents, adoptive, kinship,
and customary care families, as well as adoptees. We support and deliver programs
across Canada that seek permanent families for the approximately 30,000 children and
youth in foster and group care, the vast majority of whom have visible and invisible
disabilities, and stressed the importance of post-adoption services.
We work to elevate youth voices, to help youth in/from care tell their stories and express
their messages about the child welfare system, and to promote best practices in
recruiting families for youth with disabilities who are in government care. There are
30,000 children and youth legally available for adoption, legal guardianship, kinship care
or custom adoption in Canada.
