The County of Peterborough is an upper tier municipality representing eight local municipalities and serving a population of approximately 58,000 residents plus a large seasonal population.
The mandate of the County of Peterborough is to provide regional public services which includes promoting regional economic development and tourism opportunities (Lang Pioneer Village Museum), land use planning and development, transportation systems, solid waste management, public health, social services and emergency medical services (land ambulance).
