The Military Museums (TMM) is comprised of 8 semi-independent galleries, 5 of which will work together on this exhibition. The University of Calgary by way of the Founders’ Gallery will collaborate on this exhibition with the Army Museum of Alberta, The Air Force Museum of Alberta, The Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry Museum, The King’s Own Calgary Regiment Museum, The Calgary Highlanders’ Museum. Each of the museums will select personalities represented in their archival holdings whose lives represent the stories of Canadians at Vimy Ridge, Hill 70, and Passchendaele.

The University of Calgary’s role in this exhibition is two-fold:

1) to work with all of these museums to illustrate these stories with historical and contemporary art and

2) to augment the holdings of each of these museums with the stories of First Nation’s soldiers that often become subsumed in the wider narrative of Canadians in the First World War.

Our Vision

We partner with University leaders to support the “Eyes High” vision. “Eyes High” is the University of Calgary’s bold and ambitious vision to become one of Canada’s top five research universities, grounded in innovative learning and teaching and fully integrated with the community of Calgary, by the university’s 50th anniversary in 2016.

Our Mission

By creating and delivering exemplary human resources services, processes, and outcomes we contribute to and share in the University’s mission and goals to:

• Sharpen focus on research and scholarship;
• Enrich the quality and breadth of learning;
• Fully integrate the university with the community.

Our Values

The strategy also articulates eight core values shared by the university community: curiosity; support; collaboration; communication; sustainability; globalization; balance; and excellence.
