The Foundation strives to preserve and celebrate the cultural heritage of Perth County. The Stratford Perth Heritage Foundation launched its Pioneer Day Program in 1988 for elementary school children up to grade 6, a wide range of pioneer activities and experiences intended to stimulate interest in local history, heritage and early days of settlement in Perth County. The Pioneer Day Program takes place at Fryfogel Tavern on highway 7/8 some 12 kilometres east of Stratford just east of Shakespeare.
Instructors lead students in workshops featuring activities that relate directly to our past, supplementing in-class study, ever mindful of the Ontario curriculum.
