Powered by Data works with charities, nonprofits, funders, and governments to help them better use, share, and learn from data. We focus on systemic and policy solutions that benefit the sector as a whole, rather than specific technologies or applications. We work with key stakeholders to open up data and increase the sector’s capacity to use information effectively. Our approach combines consulting, technical collaboration, research, convening, and advocacy to achieve those goals.

In February 2017, Powered by Data convened Transform the Sector, Canada’s first national conference on digital data use in the social sector. Over three-hundred people from nonprofit organizations, government, foundations, academia and business attended this sold-out gathering.

We are now transforming Transform the Sector from a one-time event into a nation-wide movement, sparking cross-sector collaboration to increase the social sector’s impact through digital data use.

Powered by Data is a project operating on Tides Canada shared platform, which supports on-the-ground efforts to create uncommon solutions for the common good. Tides Canada is a national Canadian charity dedicated to a healthy environment, social equity and economic prosperity.
