The Congress of Black Women of Canada is a non-for-profit service organization which is dedicated to improving the lives of Black Women and their families in their local communities and nationally.
Through programs of education and service the Congress seeks to motivate women to participate in, and contribute to the life of their communities, and to build strong families who contribute to society.
Founded in 1973 by the late Kay Livingstone, there are still active chapters in Alberta, Manitoba, Nova Scotia, Quebec and Ontario.The London Chapter was established in 1989 under the leadership of the late Gwen Jenkins, and remains very active especially in Youth education.
